Developing players

At Farnborough Elite FC we have some super coaches, many of whom are qualified. Having just completed the new FA Youth Module 3 myself (...I'm told that I am the first grass roots coach in the country to pass this qualification), I can thoroughly recommend the courses that the FA now deliver.

FA Learning's courses are attended by coaches from across the world. On the new UEFA B Licence course that I'm attending, there are coaches from Galatasary in Turkey, Japan and Canada, as well as many of the English Academies.

Attending courses at this level enables our coaches to deliver high quality training sessions, suited to the players needs. Over the course of the season, our coaches will attend further courses and we intend to hold coach education sessions at our Bisley training facility too, run by FA Regional Development coaches.

We are also supplementing our coaching resources with a dedicated goalkeeper coaching, which will really help develop our this specialist position for our players.

Farnborough Elite FC - update

It's been a very hectic first few months at Farnborough Elite FC. We have some wonderful players, parents, supporters, managers and coaches at the club and if you have that in place, then I know that we can achieve great things together.

We have 6 teams this season, from under 12s through to under 16, who play in Surrey Youth League. At present 4 of those teams are top of their respective divisions, which isn't bad! We all train and play our home matches at Bisley.

There is much to do at the club in terms of generating funds to invest in kit, equipment and the training facility itself at Bisley. However, as a club run by willing volunteers, I am sure that we can take things forward and make the progress required. We have already started improving the club house by increasing the range on offer; hosted a fireworks event at Bisley; put up floodlights so that our teams can train in the evenings and improved communication through the club website, Facebook pages and Twitter (@FBoroEliteFC). In addition our under 15s trained alongside the first team and under 16s have had match day visits to Cherrywood Road. Our new goalkeeping coach will now have sessions for all club goalkeepers.

During the course of this season and next we hope to achieve the FA Charter status for our club; invest in the facilities at Bisley further and make our club one of the best in the South East. It will take a lot of hard work and will require help from willing supporters, but I'm sure we can get there and develop some great players for Farnborough FC!
